Hormone Pellet Therapy

Hormone Pellet Therapy
Hormone pellets have been used to manage hormone deficiency symptoms for decades. They have become popular in recent years as more and more people realize the convenience and benefits of having their hormone levels optimized.
Most hormone therapies (oral, topical, injections) will treat symptoms of menopause and andropause. Despite adequate dosing, many people continue to have symptoms or do not feel their best. This may be due to the rapid breakdown of the hormones as they cross the skin, poor absorption (as with testosterone), or both.
Hormone pellets, which are placed under the skin through a tiny incision on your buttock, are a more efficient delivery system, allowing serum levels to be optimized with fewer fluctuations.
Testosterone pellets are the ideal treatment to address Female Androgen Deficiency Syndrome (FADS), marked by fatigue, muscle loss, night sweats and low libido. FADS begins in a woman’s 40s and progresses over her lifetime. Restoring testosterone to youthful levels can help reverse these symptoms and encourage the growth and maintenance of bone and muscle as we age.
Estrogen pellets are frequently given alongside testosterone in women, eliminating the need for messy creams or patches.
Men can also benefit from testosterone pellets to address andropause or “Low T”. Many men report that they feel more balanced with hormone pellets compared to injections.
Dr. Hatfield begins with a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for pellet therapy. Lab tests will determine your individual needs, then a customized pellet prescription is ordered. The pellets are inserted with a small instrument called a trocar and sit in the fleshy part of the hip or buttock. Insertion takes only a few minutes and there is minimal downtime.
The hormone pellets are slowly absorbed into the bloodstream. They must be replaced every 3-4 months depending upon your activity level and unique biology.

Dr. Hatfield is not currently accepting new patients for bio-identical hormone replacement. She encourages you to check back as this may change in future.
